SVG Europe FutureSport presents Sandbox+: World’s First Live IP TV Studio

Live IP innovation is the hottest topic in sports broadcast production right now, and for SVG Europe’s FutureSport Summit at The Kia Oval in London December 2 the issue will be front and centre.

The LiveIP Project initiated by Belgian broadcaster VRT in partnership with the EBU and 10 vendors under the VRT technology acceleration program Sandbox+ was one of the proof-of-concept must-see wonders of IBC2015. A landmark achievement in interoperability, it uses SMPTE 2022/6, AES67 and PTP to transport broadcast feeds via an SDN, and highlights sharing resources, remote production and automation. For FutureSport, the key participants will discuss learning and achievement to date – and the many challenges on the road ahead.

The Sandbox+ panel session on December 2 will be moderated by SVG Europe Contributor George Jarrett, and confirmed panellists include Wouter De Cuyper, VRT, Technology Architect; Jan Eveleens, Axon, CEO; Marcel Koutstaal, Grass Valley, Senior Vice President and General Manager; Felix Krückels, Lawo, Director of Business Development; and Felix Poulin, EBU, Senior Project Manager, Networked Media Production.

SVG Europe’s final summit of 2015 provides a welcome opportunity to both look back at some of the highlights of the departing year and ahead to what technologies and events are likely to define what promises to be a packed 2016 for the sports production community. From the rapidly rising IP revolution to the working arrival of 4K UHD with the promise of HDR+ to come, FutureSport sets out to capture the excitement and opportunity of an industry that is always innovating and always moving forwards.
