SVG Europe Women is excited to work with both Boettger and Edlund Jönsson in its goal to create a powerful network of women working in European sports media that are able to call upon one another for ideas, support, help and advice, and to bring SVG Europe Women events to a wider audience across to the continent.

Boettger oversees the operation team at Sky Sports in Germany. This includes outside broadcasting and studio operations for Sky Sports, as well as Sky Sports news. Prior to this role, which she moved to in 2018, she was head of operations at Sky Sports Germany, and before that was senior production manager.

Edlund Jönsson has worked at the Swedish public broadcaster for over 20 years in a huge variety of roles, from reporter, anchor and commentator, to project manager for news and the Olympics, head of online sports, head of sports development and project manager for the Swedish and European elections for the news department.

Edlund Jönsson said of her appointment to the board: “I’m very honoured to join the Advisory Board. It’s a group of very competent women with knowledge and networks from a wide range of areas within television, production and sports.

SVT Sport won the SVG Europe Award for Diversity in Sports TV 2020 for its gender-equal coverage. Here, Asa Edlund Jonsson is pictured holding the team’s award

“I started my career as a reporter, anchor and commentator in live sports television in the mid-90s and have worked in a huge variety of roles throughout the years, becoming head of sports at SVT, the Swedish public broadcaster, in 2016. With over 25 years in the broadcasting industry, I hope I can add experience from leadership, development and journalism to the board.”

Boettger said: “It is a great pleasure to join the Advisory Board of SVG Women. It’s a great and quite unique initiative in our industry. I was fortunate enough throughout my career to have supportive people around me – men and women – within and outside of the companies I was working for. So I am happy to support with my personal experience and help others to see the opportunities in this field.

“Information, education and accessibility is key in this industry, and on top of that, it’s fun to connect with others and SVG Europe Women provides a forum for all of those things,” concluded Boettger.

The pair bring the SVG Europe Women Advisory Board to 11 members. They join:
