SVGE Sport Production Summit: Ericsson, Grinyer to talk World Cup 4K production

FIFA TV director Niclas Ericsson and Sony Professional Solutions Europe programme manager Mark Grinyer will be among those joining SVG Europe’s Sport Production Summit on 11 September to discuss the intricacies of the Live Ultra HD broadcasts of the World Cup’s final stages, which were undertaken by FIFA, host broadcaster HBS and technical production partner Sony.

In total, three matches from the tournament’s closing stages, including a quarter-final and the final at Rio’s Maracanã Stadium.

Twelve Sony F55 cameras and a number of upconverted specialist cameras created the 4K live mix, working with a new 4K-ready Globocast truck crewed by Telegenic. In this session, to be moderated by OBS TV UK executive director John Hunt, FIFA’s Niclas Ericsson and Sony Professional Solutions Europe’s Mark Grinyer will look back at the unique challenges surrounding this high profile, ambitious live 4K production from one of the world’s most popular sporting events.

Sport Production Summit will take place at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, Amsterdam, on 11 September. For more details, and to register, please visit https://www.svgeurope.org/sport-production-summit-2014/full-program/.
