Swindon Town FC goes direct to consumer as it joins Recast platform

Fans of Swindon Town FC can now directly fund their club by watching content after the English Football League (EFL) side joined sports video platform Recast.

Swindon Town FC becomes the latest rights holder to choose to stream on the OTT platform, with the partnership creating a home for affordable, flexible access to exclusive content, which Recast’s microtransaction system turns into club revenue through viewership.

Fans can look forward to live matches, player interviews and behind-the-scenes features throughout the season as their side competes in the EFL’s Sky Bet League Two.

Swindon Town FC follows the likes of Manchester City FC, Queens Park Rangers FC and Hibernian FC on to Recast.

Swindon Town FC’s head of commercial Danny Lee said: “We are delighted to be joining Recast and are confident about the opportunities this partnership will provide to the club and our fans. We are looking forward to expanding our content offering for supporters as we aim to provide more innovative ways for them to follow us. Swindon Town FC is a forward-thinking club with fantastic potential and Recast can help us achieve this.

“Recast’s unique micropayment system allows our fans to contribute to our future and success, while enjoying content directly from the heart of the club, and enables us to tap into a new revenue stream that could benefit us significantly. We have lots of exciting plans for our Recast channel and are looking forward to bringing them to life.”

Andy Meikle, founder and CEO at Recast, added: “We are pleased to add Swindon Town FC to the growing number of rights holders going direct-to-consumer and bringing fans the content they want through Recast.

“With an increasing number of football clubs finding great success through the platform, we know we are providing a much-needed solution that allows clubs to revolutionise their digital strategy in a way that will bolster earnings for years to come, and we are looking forward to helping Swindon Town FC reap the rewards.”

New content will be available immediately to Swindon Town FC supporters on Recast.
