Telstra returns as a Gold sponsor of SVG Europe

Telstra Broadcast Services (TBS), which helps broadcasters and media and entertainment companies take their content global through the company’s media network and end-to-end managed services, has renewed its Gold SVG Europe sponsorship.

The company manages over 400 satellite, media and data services, as well as overseeing three million permanent channel hours and 20,000 ad hoc event bookings every year. It has broadcast operations centres in London, Pittsburgh, Hong Kong and Sydney.

Earlier this year, TBS entered into an initial five-year strategic alliance with BT to bring together each company’s global media network teams, pooling their vast network infrastructure and localised expertise.

The deal will increase TBS’ global footprint by 50% and expand its customer-base to more than 170 broadcast and media organisations worldwide.

As part of the deal, customers of both TBS and BT will have access to the best unified operations of the two Global Media Networks via a product offering headed up by Telstra, including key Asia-Pacific regions with India, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and other countries.

In 2023, Telstra trialled 5G Standalone Network Slicing technology with Australian broadcaster Network Ten to test how this technology could support its live coverage of the Flemington Spring Racing carnival, the premier racing event in Australia. Telstra’s 5G Network Slicing technology provides a video, audio and data connection that combines the low cost and availability of Telstra’s broad mobile network with the high-quality transport required to deliver live television.
