TG4 to broadcast Aer Lingus College Football Classic live
TG4 will broadcast this year’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic live from the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 24 August.
Georgia Tech will play Florida State University in the opening fixture for the College Football season which is also an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) game. This is the first time ever that the match will be broadcast live on free-to-air television in Ireland.
The 2024 edition of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic (ALCFC) will be the third consecutive American college football game held in Ireland since the game series was announced and the eighth Division I College Football game to be played in Ireland.
More than 24,000 people are expected to travel to Dublin from the US for the clash between two leading US colleges.
TG4 head of sport Rónán Ó Coisdealbha said: “TG4 are pleased to be bringing the Aer Lingus College Football Classic to a free-to-air live television audience in Ireland.
“This is one of the major sporting events being held in Ireland this year and we look forward to welcoming both Georgia Tech and Florida State University to Ireland for the 2024 game.”
Brendan Meehan, commercial director of the ALCFC added: “We are delighted that this year’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be shown free to air on TG4.
“It provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the pageantry, colour and excitement of the event to the domestic audience whilst helping to grow the game of American Football in Ireland.”
The 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic between Georgia Tech and Florida State University takes place at Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 24 August at 5pm.
