During The Art of Replay: EVS Live Sports Production Workshop, trainer Jamie Benning worked remotely from the UK with colleagues directing and replay operating in Belgium to demonstrate how EVS operators worked in a live sports setting

The Art of Replay: EVS Live Sports Production Workshop took place on 2 December 2020. You can now watch a recording of the session on-demand.

Presented by SVG Europe Women Virtual and SVG Europe, the workshop was designed to aid those interested in learning the basic operational skills required to use the EVS LSM remote replay solution, as well as learning how it fits into the live sports production environment.

During the two-hour session, viewers learned about the role of replay operations in a live sports production environment, the role of different crew members in relation to the LSM replay operator, and the responsibilities of the LSM replay operator in live sports productions, plus more.

The main operations of the EVS LSM replay system were demonstrated, including: how to play back; how to select the best camera angles; and how to create clips.

The session was run by freelance EVS operator and editor Jamie Benning, a highly experienced trainer who works in studio-based and outside broadcast live sport. Benning has worked across all major European sports from Formula 1, Formula E, and Premier League and Championship football to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The event was hosted by internal head of SVG Europe Women and SVG Europe editor, Heather McLean.
