UEFA Europa Conference League Final 2024: Bringing the broadcast to global TV screens with the production facts

Athens played host to the UEFA Europa Conference League Final 2024 on Wednesday 29 May when Olympiacos and Fiorentina battled it out to be named champions. The hotly contested match was won 1-0 by Olympiacos at the AEK Arena.

UEFA appointed Cosmote TV as the host broadcaster, which in turn bought in Mediapro as the technical supplier for the final.

The Final – which was produced in 1080p50 SDR and was available in both UHD-SDR 2160p50 (2SI, Rec.709) and 1080i50 SDR – was brought to life blow by blow by TV match director, Dimitris Arvanitis.

Dolby surround sound was available on the HD feed, while Dolby Atmos Immersive audio was also available on the UHD feed.

UEFA allocated the following unilateral broadcast facilities:

  • 47 TV and radio commentary position desks
  • 2 tribune presentation positions
  • 18 pitch presentation
  • 10 Flash interview positions and 5 Super Flash Positions
  • 20 Unilateral camera positions behind the goals
  • 2 Unilateral Broadcast Partner offices
  • 4,000m2 of broadcast compound space
  • Official film filmed on-site delivered via Hive
  • A 25-match coverage camera plan for the Final, including a drone and five super-slow-motion cameras
