The Switch scores with live delivery of the CONCACAF 2021 Gold Cup
The Switch is providing connectivity and transmission services to the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The company is providing delivery of live video feeds of the tournament from stadiums across the US as well as distributing the production to international broadcasters via its cloud-based transmission system, provided through its MIMiC platform.
CONCACAF is relying on The Switch’s ability to provide connectivity from any major North American sports venue and its fibre delivery network to transport over 2,000 hours of uninterrupted live feeds to the Confederation’s production centre in Florida. For distribution to international broadcasters, CONCACAF is also relying for the first time on MIMiC transmission – part of The Switch’s cloud video services platform. The company is supporting all 31 matches of the Gold Cup, which takes place in July and August and is also working with main broadcast rights holder Univision, delivering live feeds for its broadcast and streaming coverage.
Rick Behar, vice president of sales at The Switch, noted: “We’re delighted to be working with CONCACAF to reach its fans as it celebrates 60 years of bringing thrilling international soccer competitions to the Caribbean and North and Central America. With The Switch’s own longstanding history of producing and delivering high-quality, reliable live video feeds from any venue worldwide using the internet or fibre, we’re able to support rightsholders of all types in providing compelling sports coverage.”
The 2021 Gold Cup tournament is being played in 11 stadiums across the US with the final taking place on 1 August in Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, home of the NFL’s Raiders. Fans are allowed to attend matches but not all stadiums will be at full capacity.
