TV3 enhances real-time broadcast capabilities with TVU Networks’ 5G-powered remote production solutions

Catalonian broadcaster TV3 has taken a significant step forward in live production by integrating TVU RPS One’s 5G field units for synchronised multi-camera remote production. It has also strengthened its partnership with TVU Networks by adding TVU G-Link, an ultra-low latency IP-based distribution system, to its workflow.

“The addition of TVU RPS One and G-Link to our production toolkit provides us with the flexibility and reliability we need to cover more stories, faster, and with higher quality,” said Albert Bargalló, MCR chief at 3Cat. “These solutions allow us to get closer to the action and deliver real-time content that enhances our audience’s experience, whether they’re tuning in for breaking news or live sports.”

TVU RPS One allows TV3 to produce multi-camera live content from the field using a single, lightweight, portable unit. It supports up to four cameras, eliminating the need for extensive cabling, which speeds up the coverage of breaking stories and enables live broadcasts from previously hard-to-reach locations.

This technology helps TV3 connect more closely with its audience by delivering real-time content with 0.3 second latency, from events like local festivals and sports. Additionally, TVU’s ecosystem supports multiple output formats – including SDI, SRT, NDI, and RTMP – offering the flexibility to adapt to various production environments and distribute content across different viewing platforms.

TVU G-Link, on the other hand, serves as a bidirectional point-to-point IP distribution system, enabling ultra-low latency feed exchange and monitoring between locations. With this addition, TV3 can send real-time footage and program video return between its studio and satellite trucks, ensuring very responsive live broadcasts operations.

“We’re proud to support TV3 in its journey towards more agile and efficient live production,” said Carlos Chaparro, business development manager for Spain and Portugal at TVU Networks. “Our collaboration with TV3 underscores the importance of flexible, high-performance technology in meeting the evolving demands of today’s live broadcasting landscape.”
