Van Wagner and Ross Video drive stadium screens for MLB London series

Major League Baseball (MLB) set foot in the UK for the first time in history at the end of June as two of the league’s titans, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox, came head-to-head for a two-game series at the London Stadium.

A packed stadium crowd enjoyed a thrilling pair of matches, with the Yankees overcoming their Boston rivals by 17-13 and 12-8. The in-stadium production for this event was handled by sports production specialists (and long-time Ross Video partners) Van Wagner Productions.

As part of the production, Ross Video’s XPression graphics platform and XPression Tessera rendering solution – first seen running the enormous halo screen in the ceiling of Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz stadium – were integrated into London Stadium’s LED system; XPression and XPression Tessera powered the mid-tier ribbon boards and both XPression Tessera and the Carbonite Mosaic solution powered the main screen graphics during the game. Stats driven graphic templates for the boards were programmed and fabricated by Rocket Surgery – Ross Video’s in-house creative services division.

Commenting on the experience, Ryan Kehn, creative director with VWSE, is quick to acknowledge the support received from the Ross Video team. “We were excited to have the Ross team join us in London. The Ross team has been a critical component to ensure a successful video board presentation, from technical integration to creative support to in-show execution.

“Using a combination of XPression, Tessera and Carbonite Mosaic gave us the flexibility we needed to pre-build our show and roll-in to a new venue with a minimum integration footprint. Their efforts contributed to an authentic, first-class game day experience.”
