VIDI partnership brings Aperi platform to European and international sports markets

In order to deliver its software-based IP media processing platform to live productions across much of Europe, Aperi Corporation has joined forces with VIDI GmbH (VIDI). The global systems integrator will make the Aperi platform available to customers across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark as well as for multiple international sporting events.

VIDI is a leading service provider and expert in systems integration across the increasingly converging broadcast and telecommunication industries. Independently run and privately owned, becoming a partner of Aperi and being able to deliver its platform comes at the right time to meet a growing demand for truly IP-based, flexible modular broadcast IP solutions.

“Requests from our customers and clients for IP and software-based audio and video processing have risen fairly substantially and Aperi’s platform allows us to deliver that easily,” said Karsten Winterberg, managing director at VIDI. “While IP production has been spoken about as the future of broadcast production, there is absolutely a market for its implementation now.”

Aperi’s Media Function Virtualization (MFV) technology allows for evolutionary migration from current SDI-centric installations to a future-proof, fully standards- and open source software-based system solution, where new media formats and additional features can be realized with instant spinning up and down of software applications. The agile, software-driven IP ecosystem also enables easy pay-per-use business models.

Aperi CEO Joop Janssen added: “One of the most important things we can do is to partner with trusted and forward thinking companies like VIDI to educate the industry on the implementation of IP today. Native IP and fully software-based solutions bring substantial benefits to producers now and working closely with VIDI to deliver that is where these partnerships can make a big difference.”

Karsten added: “We’re looking forward to delivering this innovative platform from Aperi to make the migration to IP broadcast production a reality.”
