Vidi to offer remote production facilities at German winter sports events
Vidi is to make remote production facilities available at a number of winter sports venues in Germany that broadcasters can book and use to produce unilateral coverage of events taking place there.
The Darmstadt-based professional services provider is setting up connectivity facilities that will allow data, video and audio feeds to be sent directly from the venue to a broadcaster’s base or studio. Crews are also being deployed to help with the provision of the service.
The events being covered include the ski jumping competition The Four Hills Tournament (28 December 2020 – 6 January 2021), the IBU Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof (7-17 January 2021) and the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2021 in Oberstdorf (23 February – 7 March 2021).
Robert Oszvald, director of event services at Vidi, said: “COVID-19 is still part of our life, but Vidi’s winter sports success story continues. To avoid unnecessary travelling, Vidi supports remote production by providing camera and EB teams at the major European winter sports venues. Rights-holders can enrich the host broadcaster’s feeds with additional exclusive views, stand-ups and interviews for a real winter sports experience.”
Services will include fibre links from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps as well as full-service video, audio and data in SDI-HD, UHD and 3G quality using IP-based adaptation technology.
