Women in Streaming Media and SMPTE announce London event to look at OTT technologies and educational pathways in streaming media
Women in Streaming Media and SMPTE have teamed up to hold a joint event looking at the progression of over the top (OTT) technologies, as well as educational pathways in streaming media.
Taking place at BT Tower in London on the evening of Thursday 27 April, guests will first hear from two female industry leaders, Ailin Tarbinian and Kate Lowe, who will explore the increasing demand for OTT video services, how OTT platforms have evolved over the years and how they are delivering seamless user experiences with changing viewing technology.
Tarbinian is head of streaming and platform capabilities at Sky, responsible for Sky’s OTT linear streaming platforms that delivers the linear streams for Sky Go, Now, Sky Sports and Sky News Apps in the UK and ROI. Lowe is head of product and group identity at Sky.
Next up, how individuals end up in these kinds of technical roles will be explored with a talk from Polly Hickling, head of education for Women in Streaming Media, and education director at SMPTE.
Hickling will be delving into the current educational pathways in streaming media and the trending topic of whether there is a skills shortage or just an unclear pipeline.
Finally guests will here from Jason Thibeault from the Streaming Video Technology Alliance, who will talk about an exciting education initiative they have launching soon.
