IBC 2013: Trilogy Gemini intercom and Nevion Flashlink transport a ‘perfect combination’

Bringing together class-leading products from pioneers in broadcast intercom and media transport, IBC 2013 will see Trilogy showcase Nevion’s Flashlink transport system while Nevion highlights Trilogy’s Gemini Intercom and Mentor XL SPG/TSG, the latter of which will provide all timing references for Nevion throughout IBC.

Trilogy’s director of business development, Mark Ellis, says: “Following market requests and the identification of a clear product synergy, we are extremely excited to be working with Nevion to offer customers a complete camera-to-home media transport solution with an integral and highly sophisticated voice communications layer.”

Nevion fully manages all network types – from legacy infrastructure upgrades to entirely new digital systems – with intelligence, automation and security built-in, helping customers monetise content, save resources, and open doors to new revenue streams.

By adding an intercom communications layer, users of Nevion’s Flashlink will be able to enjoy all of the benefits of a Trilogy broadcast intercom with the confidence that Gemini’s standards-based design makes it flexible, easy to use and completely dependable.

Nevion’s Flashlink transport system family offers solutions ranging from simple CWDM/DWDM point-to-point links to nationwide optical links. In addition to transport systems, the Flashlink line offers signal processing solutions including format conversion, frame synchronisers, embedders/de-embedders, couplers, up/down/cross-converters, optical and distribution amplifiers.

Flashlink provides ultra low power, compact form factors and high reliability for broadcast environments, resulting in award-winning optical fiber distribution and signal processing solutions.

Trilogy’s Gemini is a ‘Distributed Matrix’ intercom designed with an expandable structure to cope as requirements change; a wide choice of operator panels to suit both application and user; simple installation over any distance; and absolute reliability. In addition to meeting the needs of modern broadcast comms environments, Gemini also combines a programme quality audio network with IP connectivity.

Gemini’s architecture is built on the concept of a decentralised, scalable matrix platform with the significant advantages of IP capability, to deliver real time, high quality voice solutions across local or global networks. A single matrix accommodates up to 32 ports, each freely assignable for use with control panels or four wires, while the IP gateway adds a provision to stream bi-directional audio traffic over a further 32 IP channels.

Trilogy’s Sync and Test Signal Generators satisfy the demands of mixed analogue, SD and HD/3G installations, with Mentor XL as the most sophisticated and reliable master reference generator available. Its innovative architecture avoids the need for numerous option boards or factory upgrades by allowing most optional features to be activated in software via an IP connection.
