Dolby showcases next-gen broadcast audio solution Dolby AC-4

Dolby Laboratories, Inc. the developer of the Dolby AC-4 standard, unveiled broad support from key partners spanning the broadcast ecosystem to demonstrate Dolby AC-4 capabilities at IBC.

A powerful new audio format in the Dolby Audio family, Dolby AC-4 enables the most efficient delivery of premium consumer experiences to TVs, tablets, mobile phones and other devices. Flexible and cost-effective, Dolby AC-4 solves today’s broadcast challenges and provides the highest-quality broadcast and streaming audio experiences across multiple platforms. Dolby AC-4 is easy to implement and enables broadcasters to upgrade and adapt their operations to support next-generation experiences.

The IBC demonstrations will show that Dolby AC-4 is a scalable, practical, and simple solution for the DVB and ATSC 3.0 standards.

 

Axon, Dektec, Interra Systems, Linear Acoustic and ST Micro will showcase how they have integrated Dolby AC-4 into their workflows. In addition, Envivio and Harmonic are among the first to deliver encoding in Dolby AC-4.

At its booth (Stand Number 2.A11), Dolby will demonstrate the future of TV and how the audio features of Dolby AC-4 enhance stereo viewing and today’s television experiences. Attendees will also go behind the scenes to see how Dolby’s interoperable solutions across the broadcast ecosystem reduce cost and complexity and provide more reliable content delivery.
