NOA integrates IRT’s MXF analyser into archiving product range

NOA has collaborated with the German Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) to integrate IRT’s MXF analysis technology into NOA’s archiving product range. AS will be highlighted at IBC, IRT’s MXF Analyser is now integrated into NOA’s product line to provide systematic checks on every MXF file addressed in an archiving workflow. This ensures conformance to the MXF SMPTE standard and application parameters such as operational pattern, essence container constraints, and payload formats.

The MXF Analyser incorporates the in-depth knowledge and expertise which IRT is gaining through its 10-plus years of heavy involvement in the standardisation and maintenance of the MXF specifications and provision of its MXF Test Centre services. By including systematic regular checks for MXF conformance in the workflow, NOA customers can avoid the common problems that occur with invalid MXF files.

“These problems are caused in a number of ways,” says Christophe Kummer, NOA’s CEO. “Changes in servers, network infrastructure, and programming can introduce irregularities, and as a result an archive operator can find that large numbers of files in the content library are unplayable.”

The MXF Analyser is used by broadcasters, production houses and broadcast equipment manufacturers around the world to optimise the handling of content in the MXF format.

“The MXF file format is the ultimate form of a broadcast file format for exchanging and archiving valuable content, and it’s essential that the operators can rely on the files being really conform to the MXF standard,” said Stefan Schneiders, IRT’s general manager sales & marketing.
