Primestream enhances integration between XChange Suite, Adobe Premier Pro

Primestream will unveil an enhanced level of integration between its Xchange Suite software platform for asset management and automation with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, the acclaimed video editing software for Windows and Mac OS X.

Through an intuitive new interface, users can now quickly search the Xchange asset database based on group permissions from within Adobe Premiere Pro CC, select video, audio, still images, and captions – then simply import those items into a Premiere Pro project with metadata and markers. When an edited sequence is complete users can export the project, using Adobe Media Encoder, into a finished file with embedded XMP data, ready for distribution.

“Primestream is committed to bringing cutting-edge workflows that solve important problems,” says Claudio Lisman, Primestream president and CEO. “We continue to set the bar high with this latest update to our Premiere Pro integration. The Xchange panel will enable Premiere Pro editors to work collaboratively from anywhere, enabling the world to produce and deliver more creative content.”

“Adobe provides broadcast professionals the tools they need to deliver high-quality productions efficiently,” says Susan Skidmore, Head of Partner Relations, Professional Video at Adobe. “With Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Xchange v4.5, users can produce more substantive content more quickly — a clear advantage when it comes to getting good stories to air before the competition.”

FORK v5.5
Primestream will also unveil FORK v5.5, the latest version of its acclaimed cross-platform software suite for asset management and automation. FORK v5.5 builds on over a decade of innovation and success with many refinements, new core technologies and integrations. The release includes updates to both FORK Production Suite and Playout, with advancements to MXF, high-density I/O and 4K workflows. FORK v5.5 is available for Windows and Mac OS.

FORK Logger, the highly customisable tool for logging live or pre-recorded video with speed and accuracy, will see an update enabling Logger sessions to optionally add new clips to Live Assist™ rundowns. This makes logged clips instantly available to an operator, ready for playout. A FORK Logger configuration can target a specific channel in a rundown, while multiple loggers can target the same rundown.

FORK v5.5 features an update to Live Assist, the award winning FORK module for control room playout, which now includes more control over trimming clips in a Live Assist rundown. The update also adds graphic overlays with the FORK Simple Graphics Engine, a new built-in tool for Live Assist and FORK Master Control Playout. The Simple Graphics Engine (SGE) enables the management of graphics with animations such as a station logo, lower third, and clock or next up. SGE also provides tools to customize text fields and duration on the fly with a set of pre-made graphic animations.

FORK Master Control Playout will see an update – now supporting .MOV and MXF (ProPres and XAVC) 4K/UHD playout. The new version also adds additional language and Unicode support, additional codec support, new scripting commands, and device control. FORK Media Player is now 64-bit, enabling use of large amounts of RAM and increased performance. Also new to the Media Player is ProRes 4K Ingest. Additionally, FORK can now Ingest or Playout 4 HD channels of XDCAM, ProRes or DVPRO on 1 PC, reducing required hardware while increasing I/O performance.

Primestream will also be demonstrating direct MXF support in the FORK client, enabling native ingest, import, edit, and playout of media. With MXF, users now gain the flexibility and freedom to work across different editing and storage systems simultaneously.

Primestream continues to enhance support for craft editor workflows in FORK v5.5 with Adobe Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and Apple Final Cut Pro X. The integration supports edit-while-capture workflows with XDCAM, ProRes and AVC-Intra — empowering sports, news, entertainment, and corporate video operations to use NLEs — while gaining the benefits of the FORK I/O, logging, tagging, proxy editing, workflow management, and archiving.

“Primestream’s FORK 5.5 builds on our commitment to innovation and creativity,” says Lisman. “Customers can enjoy a new level of productivity and control with this update, seeing enhancements to Live Assist, Logger, Playout and 3rd party integrations. FORK 5.5 is by far the most powerful and secure version of FORK yet.”

Xchange v4.5
Lastly, Primestream will demonstrate Xchange Suite v4.5, a major upgrade to the application that gives broadcasters and video professionals instant Web access to content on their FORK Production servers from any PC or tablet device. The new software update introduces closed-captioning features in Xchange, enabling powerful workflows for searching previewing, sorting, and accessing captioning data for intuitive content production. Control your distribution with new publishing features for natively exporting to OTT network and social media outlets. Xchange v4.5 also features Insight™, a flexible new comment, rating and media activity tracking system that brings enhanced interactivity to collaboration.

Xchange Suite v4.5 now brings the ability to download and import content, metadata and markers from Xchange into leading Non-Linear Editors, such as Apple Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro CC. Xchange 4.5 now features a built-in panel for Adobe Premiere Pro. Through an intuitive new interface, users can now quickly search the Xchange media asset database from within Premiere Pro, select media, and simply import those items into a Premiere Pro project. When an edited sequence is complete, users can export the project into a finished file, ready for distribution.

Also making its IBC debut is Mobile2Air 3.0, a major upgrade to the iOS app that seamlessly integrates remote field reporting with Primestream’s FORK Production Suite, and now seamlessly with Xchange. Mobile2Air 3.0 enables recording, uploading and reviewing of videos fast and securely from an iPhone or iPad. The update allows uploading and reviewing from anywhere across Mobile2Air and Xchange environments. Mobile2Air 3.0 integrates with Aspera’s FASP upload acceleration technology, the proven standard for the high-speed data transport.

“Production environments around the globe are creating and distributing an ever-increasing amount of content while needing to store, move and share media between locations,” says Lisman. “We are solving these complex challenges by designing the Xchange platform with a rich set of functionalities and a solid infrastructure that is scalable and secure. This combination allows for a streamlined workflow that is easier to manage and promotes collaboration company-wide.

Primestream will also be demonstrating direct MXF support in the FORK client, enabling native ingest, import, edit, and playout of media. With MXF, users now gain the flexibility and freedom to work across different editing and storage systems simultaneously.
