Turk Telecom Group selects Irdeto security for new satellite service geared towards sports

Irdeto has announced that it will be providing security for a new Tivibu satellite Pay TV service from Turk Telecom Group. Irdeto’s Media Access and Management services use Irdeto CA to give Turk Telecom Group security across new DVB-S set-top-boxes (STBs) that offer content to non-fiber customers.

With Turk Telecom Group’s recent acquisition of broadcast rights for UEFA Champions League and Europa League football, it was important to ensure this valuable sports content was well protected and available to a wide range of customers across both existing fiber networks and the new satellite network. Turk Telecom Group therefore sought a partner that could offer first-class security services and also had the local market experience to ensure smooth deployment. With Irdeto, Turk Telecom Group was able to rapidly roll-out its new service with STBs available in stores to meet the service launch date of June 2015.

“As we looked to grow our business and provide new services, we needed a trusted partner that reflected our agile and innovative nature while giving us the freedom and flexibility to target new customer segments and increase our market share,” said Nazmi Muhsinoglu, service management director at Turk Telekom. “Irdeto met these criteria and ensured that we had robust security for our flagship STBs while crucially allowing for a quick roll-out of the technology due to their strong network of relationships in this market.”

“Operators around the world are changing to meet the demands placed upon them by customers, who want to access the latest content seamlessly, across devices and services,” said Richard Scott, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Irdeto. “It’s important that businesses such as Turk Telekom Group look for the right technology and knowledge to allow them to grow their businesses and reach new customers quickly, while ensuring that premium services – such as live sports – remain protected from piracy.”
