IBC Spotlight: FileCatalyst President John Tkaczewski on NBC’s Rio Efforts and Central v3.7

FileCatalyst arrives at IBC 2016 in Amsterdam on a hot streak, having played a key role in NBC Olympics’ production of Rio 2016 as a high-speed file-transfer tool between Rio and the U.S. At IBC, FileCatalyst is demoing FileCatalyst Central v3.7, which was used by NBC Olympics in its coverage of the Games in Rio and two years prior in Sochi, Russia.

In Rio, the newly updated FileCatalyst Central allowed broadcasters to monitor transfers in real time and track their entire FileCatalyst deployment. With NBC Olympics sending more than 10 TB of footage each day of the Games, FileCatalyst Central offered the ability to oversee thousands of file transfers in real time from Rio to its Sports Production Operations Center in Stamford, CT. In addition, FileCatalyst Central provides a pure HTML frontend for administering any attached nodes, allowing an entire enterprise to be managed from a single web-based console.

SVG spoke with President/CFO/co-founder John Tkaczewski on the IBC 2016 floor about FileCatalyst’s role in NBC Olympics’ Rio 2016 production, the latest enhancements to the FileCatalyst Central v3.7 platform, and the latest updates to FileCatalyst Direct, including Server, HotFolder, and TransferAgent.
