Elemental To Highlight Range of Advanced Video-Processing Solutions

By Carrie Bowden, associate editor
Elemental Technologies, a leading supplier of video solutions for multiscreen content delivery, today announced plans to showcase its advanced video processing solutions at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual conference and exhibition in Las Vegas, April 8-11. Solutions from Elemental are widely adopted across the media industry and help pay TV operators, content programmers, production studios, and sports broadcasters effectively deliver high-quality linear and on demand multiscreen video to end users on any device.

Elemental will demonstrate the capabilities of its entire product suite in booth SU2724. The company’s unified software architecture offers the ability to implement live and on demand video processing in on-premise, cloud-based or hybrid ground-cloud deployments. Encoding features for Elemental Cloud mirror those available with Elemental Server and Elemental Live, ensuring the same high-quality video output is available from on-premise appliances and secure cloud-based transcoding resources. Elemental Stream sits at the origin or the edge of the network to optimize bandwidth efficiency and Elemental Conductor centralizes management of all Elemental video processing deployments.

Elemental will demonstrate a completely untethered live video workflow powered by Elemental Cloud in conjunction with LiveU, the pioneer in broadcast-quality, video-over-cellular solutions. The “strip cam” demonstration will feature a camera on a human tripod roaming the Las Vegas strip capturing content, which in turn is transmitted via LiveU’s portable LU40s cellular-bonding unit to Elemental Cloud
for multiscreen video processing and delivery. The end-to-end live application will be delivered throughout the show to mobile platforms in both the LiveU and Elemental booths.

In addition, Elemental will highlight Elemental Live and Elemental Server performing 4K Ultra HD encoding, HEVC/H.265 encoding and UltraViolet content creation, with video streaming to a variety of end user players and devices. Technologies that help customers protect and monetize content in a multiscreen ecosystem, such as forensic watermarking, encryption, targeted ad insertion, advanced captioning and audio normalization, will also be on display. Elemental Stream, which is designed to segment, package and secure content for multiscreen delivery, will be featured in both the Elemental Live and Elemental Server workflows.

“Each year, Elemental brings our latest technologies to the forefront at NAB, and this year is no exception,” said Keith Wymbs, VP of marketing for Elemental. “As our solution set continues to mature and our innovation accelerates with continued customer adoption, we see NAB as the critical stage for showcasing our leadership in the multiscreen video processing market.”

Elemental will showcase a wide array of partner integrations at NAB, with technology demonstrations in its booth and spanning the show floor. Featured ad insertion, CDN, DRM, forensic watermarking, streaming and platform partners include Adobe, Akamai, Aveco, Civolution, deltatre, Dolby, Nielsen, Supermicro, Toshiba, Verimatrix, VisualOn, and Yospace.
Elemental and Amazon Web Services (AWS) will co-host a cocktail reception in the Elemental booth on Tuesday, April 9, from 5 to 6 p.m. The reception will feature executives from AWS and Elemental speaking to the development of innovative cloud-based architectures for formatting large-scale video assets. Over the course of the show, visitors to the Elemental booth will have the opportunity to win a Kindle Fire HD, courtesy of AWS. In addition, Elemental VP marketing Keith Wymbs is slated to participate in a panel discussion on OTT video and next generation services, hosted by Siemens on
Monday, April 8 at 10 a.m. in room S224 and to lead an Akamai Theater presentation on Wednesday, April 10 at 2 p.m. in booth SL2724.
