Nevion To Highlight VideoIPath with Enhanced Management Software

Nevion, a leading provider of next-generation managed media transport, will showcase VideoIPath — its end-to-end managed media solution including newly enhanced management software — at NAB, booth SU3117. The platform encompasses comprehensive media transport, signal processing and monitoring to enable streamlined, fully managed media services. Combining Nevion’s market-proven transport hardware with state-of-the-art management and control, the complete system provides the intelligence, network awareness, and control capability needed to bridge the gap between a transport infrastructure and mission critical media services—entirely managed from a single intuitive interface.

“To gain the full operational benefits and financial advantages of next-generation media networks built on a mix of Ethernet, IP and MPLS technologies, broadcasters and media service providers must manage the complexity of these advanced new networks,” said Janne T. Morstøl, chief product and marketing officer at Nevion. “VideoIPath’s media delivery and sophisticated software-based management of all audio and video services across IP, SDH/SONET and fiber networks not only delivers smarter, dynamic use of network resources, but also reduces equipment required, saves operating costs, and increases revenue through better use of network resources and the ability to transport more content.”

The system’s hardware components, including award-winning Ventura transport modules, feature the industry’s widest range of high quality compression solutions, providing a media transport solution for every bandwidth. Nevion’s high-quality, industry-low latency JPEG 2000 codecs strike the ideal balance between quality and bandwidth utilization, while new H.264 solutions provide high quality compression for bandwidth-limited environments. Uncompressed SDI over IP is the best choice when bandwidth is not an issue.

The VideoIPath software management solution completes Nevion’s comprehensive solution for media networks encompassing service provisioning, connection management, service analytics, network inventory, and fault-, configuration- and performance-management functions for small to medium-sized broadcast networks, as well as large service provider networks.

At NAB, Nevion will showcase VideoIPath 3.0 including support for the full range of Nevion products including the Video Gateway series for IP transport and nSure monitoring and switching products resulting from Nevion’s merger with T-VIPS. In addition, VideoIPath now supports security features, where access to critical network resources is protected by authentication, authorization and privacy mechanisms, allowing service providers to control users’ access to resources.

VideoIPath is built on a distributed database and distributed processing model from the ground up. Multiple hardware servers provide high redundancy for zero loss of functionality or performance should one of the servers go down. VideoIPath’s modular architecture allows customization to fit specific needs. The platform consists of a number of apps that can be launched from any standard Web browser, enabling the creation of custom apps for specific purposes.
