StorageDNA Integrates With Avid Interplay

StorageDNA will now integrate its technology with the Avid Interplay Production asset management (PAM) system, allowing StorageDNA’s archive and restore offering, DNA Evolution, to be a simple and cost-effective archive solution for Avid Interplay Production. DNA Evolution is an intelligent LTO LTFS workflow solution with an open XML-based interface that allows it to be easily integrated with third-party production asset management (PAM) solutions, such as Avid Interplay Production. The workflow solution is engineered for maximum performance with an archive accelerator, direct connect deployment, and built-in data movers for the fastest archives and restores.

“With DNA Evolution, StorageDNA offers a highly cost-effective and well-integrated archive option for Avid Interplay Production. DNA Evolution enables a greater number of our Avid customers to deploy Avid Interplay Production. Affordable support, tight integration, and performance make this a strong choice for any Interplay Production deployment,” says Mike Halbrook, President, TM Television.

DNA Evolution integrates through Avid Interplay Web Services, eliminating complex and costly installations, as no other components are required. With Interplay Web Services, any folder within Avid Interplay Production can become a watch folder for archiving or restoration of media. It intelligently monitors and tracks all elements down to their master clips and can incrementally archive and restore only those elements not already accounted for.

“We have a great history of supporting Avid editing software with our workflow solutions and the Web Services API product license further advances our technical partnership and gives Avid Interplay Production customers access to an easy and affordable archiving solution,” says TC Chakravarty, CEO and president of StorageDNA. “The integration of DNA Evolution with Avid Interplay Production offers many significant benefits including outstanding performance with the most flexible archive and restore options available.”

The integration between DNA Evolution and Avid Interplay means that editors are able to archive and restore media without leaving the Avid Media Composer or Avid Interplay Access interface, and also report metadata, such as tape ID, back to the Avid Interplay Production database for search, move or delete operations. DNA Evolution also offers a mini-media asset manager built into the software, which allows the end user to browse clip names and low-resolution proxies via a Web-based interface. And to further support users of the combined solution, DNA Evolution provides one-of-a-kind Avid Interplay Production database verification. DNA Evolution can be run in manual/report mode where all elements and their inconsistencies are reported back to the end user. DNA Evolution also offers tight integration and high performance with Avid ISIS storage systems for fast archive and restore operations.

StorageDNA will demonstrate DNA Evolution LTO LTFS archive-restore media workflows in April in Las Vegas, Nevada at the 2013 NAB Show in booth SL11116.
