NAB 2016: EVS Strengthens IP4Live Initiative

EVS (SL3816) will exhibit its newest IP4Live innovations, demonstrating the company’s strategic approach to IP that brings the benefits of IP-based workflows to live production while preserving customers’ investments. In addition, EVS will showcase its support of the adoption, standardization and development of open protocols through a series of interoperable live workflow demonstrations at its booth and at its new EVS Live on Tour demonstration truck.

IP4LiveAs a member of AIMS (Alliance for IP Media Solutions), a non-profit organization, EVS is actively working alongside industry leaders to foster the adoption of industry standards for the broadcast and media industry as it transitions from SDI to IP.  At the EVS booth, several AIMS members’ equipment will be connected over IP using industry standards for audio and video transfer driving a live production using off-the-shelf IT switches – providing a look at how IP-based productions work and how IP protocols and the network are managed.

“IP at the heart of live production is becoming a reality, and at NAB we’ll show just how it’s being done,” said Johan Vounckx, SVP, innovation & technology for EVS. “Fully interoperable, IP-based solutions are critical to making all parts of the live production workflow as efficient as possible and to making live media delivered to today’s wide range of media platforms.”

Among the IP-based product offerings on display the EVS booth is EVS’ XiP media gateway, which expands the EVS XT3 and XS3 media production servers into a IP based facility. Fully UHD-4K enabled with an easy-to-use interface, the DYVI next generation IT switcher unlocks new creative abilities with scalability and flexibility.

Presented in partnership with Cisco, the Live on Tour demonstration truck will give EVS customers and users the chance to get their hands on the latest live solutions from EVS and discover its new innovations for faster, better storytelling and future-proof infrastructures during a US tour. A joint IP infrastructure demonstration will include an off-the-shelf switch from Cisco for demonstrating an IP-based workflow.

The demo truck’s official launch will take place during the 2016 NAB Show in Las Vegas at Alliance Production’s annual mobile truck event on Monday, April 18.
