NAB 2016: Haivision Announces Live 4K HEVC Encoder
Haivision, which deals with enterprise video and streaming solutions, announces the Haivision KB encoder series. Built on the foundation of the KulaByte encoder/transcoder, the KB series introduces 4K/UHD encoding, HEVC/H.265 compression, and new platform form factors, all leveraging Intel CPU/GPU processing.
Haivision exhibited the new series of products at NAB 2016.
The new Haivision KB Encoder series includes:
- Haivision KB 4K Encoder – Haivision’s new live 4K HEVC encoder fuels the highest quality streaming events, supporting up to 4K encoding with the latest video compression (HEVC, H.264) and encapsulation (MPEG-DASH, HLS, RTMP, TS) standards.
- Haivision KB Mini Encoder – Haivision’s new compact H.264/HEVC encoder is ideal for both adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming workflows and bandwidth efficient HD HEVC workflows.
- Haivision KB Transcoder – A bridge between video network segments, adapting compression standards (H.264/HEVC), the KB Transcoder is able to encode to multiple video bitrates and resolutions (UHD/4K, HD, SD) for multi bitrate (MBR) and adaptive bitrate (ABR) streaming. It supports multiple encapsulation standards and protocols (MPEG-DASH, RTMP, HLS, MPEG-TS, Haivision’s SRT).
As the latest release of the KulaByte technology, the Haivision KB encoder series addresses the most demanding Internet streaming applications. The Haivision KB series is built on a software-based architecture to be available as performance tuned, reliable, appliance platforms for on-premise deployment or as software for deployment within cloud and private cloud transcoding.
The KB 4K and KB Mini HEVC Encoder appliances are powered by the Intel Xeon Processor E3 Family with Intel Iris Pro Graphics P6300. The KB Transcoder software is deployable in cloud datacenters and takes advantage of Intel’s integrated CPU and graphics technologies to speed up transcoding. Haivision demonstrated a full premise-to-cloud HEVC video workflow highlighting the combined technology within Intel’s booth #SU621 and in Haivision’s NAB showroom.
“We are focused on getting the most out of both hardware and software-based platforms to fuel the eco-systems that our customers depend on,” says Mahmoud Al-Daccak, CTO of Haivision. “Our goals are simple: end-to-end solutions with the highest quality video at the lowest possible bandwidth.”
Haivision at NAB 2016
Haivision showcased live video workflows with H.264/HEVC and HD/4K encoding and transcoding supported by Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) end-to-end technology. They displayed a HEVC low latency hardware video encoder, a new software-based encoder supporting 4K HEVC, and an on-premise and cloud video contribution and distribution workflow. Haivision also showcased solution partners highlighting remote caller production with The Video Call Center, remote interviews with Globelynx, mobile contribution and monitoring with Accelerated Media Technologies, and 4K UHD displays with Primeview.
