Tempest wireless intercom system has new home at CoachComm division Pliant Technologies

The first day of NAB 2016 witnessed the debut of a new force in the professional intercom sector in the form of Pliant Technologies. To be operated as a division of CoachComm, Pliant Technologies has been established to address the needs and challenges of customers in the professional marketplace.

Headed up by founder and CEO Peter Amos, the company will continue to manufacture and market Tempest – the wireless intercom system that has become a popular choice for broadcast facilities, live sound, theatre, sports, theme parks, major events and more – as well as introduce new products.

Commenting on the decision to create the new division, Amos remarked: “We are very excited to announce our new Pliant division, which will bring new exciting industry-changing products to professionals in any intercom application. Continuing our success from the Tempest wireless intercom product line, our team – now under the Pliant umbrella – will redefine wireless intercom once again. We aim to take a new, pioneering approach to wireless communication, paying close attention to the specific needs of our users in the professional marketplace.”

Alongside the new operational set-up, there are multiple new products on show at NAB. The new SmartBoom PRO Headset is the latest addition to the Tempest range and features SmartBoom technology, which allows the adjustable microphone boom to act as an On/Off switch for quick muting. Closed-back over-the-ear headphones with oval-shaped cups and a dynamic noise-canceling microphone combine to enable users to clearly communicate in high noise conditions. The headset’s flexible, ambidextrous design and oversized foam padding available in single- and dual-ear models were designed to be worn for extended periods with the users’ comfort in mind.

Also new is the wireless intercom product, Crew, which is based on a new technology delivering high user density, range and scalability. The product is said to feature excellent voice quality, fully-featured professional full-duplex wireless radio packs, multiple simultaneous frequency bands, and a host of other user features.
