2018 FIFA World Cup: Red Bee Media enables McDonald’s to show every game in Swedish restaurants

Thanks to Red Bee Media McDonald’s will show all 2018 FIFA World Cup games in every restaurant in Sweden during the tournament. The games are streamed in HD quality, enabled by Red Bee Media’s Managed OTT Services.

The feeds were verified and fully up and running only a few hours after McDonalds greenlit the project. Red Bee Media Managed OTT Services are based on a modular managed OTT platform that gives anyone the opportunity to start streaming their content within minutes.

“We needed someone who could deliver the World Cup to our restaurants on a tight deadline and without any glitches. Red Bee Media managed to do just that and enabled us to give our customers access to world class football while enjoying our burgers,” said Rickard Berthold, digital lead at McDonald’s Sweden.

As a main sponsor of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, McDonald’s were looking for a solution allowing them to stream all the games in their 207 restaurants in Sweden. Red Bee Media was chosen as the service provider given its pedigree in live sports, quality, speed to market and customer care. The feeds were up and running within hours from the start of the project, delivering the World Cup to guests all over the country.

“We are proud to be able to deliver a high-quality stream of one of the biggest live sports events in the world, in so many locations at the same time. Our solution is built to manage any type of content and be displayed on any available device, and we are glad that McDonalds chose us to deliver the World Cup to their restaurants,” said Anders Wassén, head of online video development at Red Bee Media.

Red Bee Media’s managed OTT Services are enabled by a modular managed OTT platform, with a state of the art microservices architecture, operated in the cloud which enables both flexibility and scalability. The platform can deliver any format to any device, be it live or VOD. As a result anyone, no matter what their content or audience, can have their own OTT-channel up and running within minutes.
