Access to Danish national sports leagues set to increase with new NMS from VIDI

VIDI is installing a new network management system (VIDI NMS) for the Danish-European Next Generation Media Network of GigaContent. The wide area broadcast network of the Danish media service provider received a significant update in September 2016. The Danish network provides access to content from the Danish national sports leagues as well as sports events (football, handball, ice hockey), information from the financial world (shares, currency developments, comments from experts) and services for news agencies and studios.

Following an intensive test phase, the previous network management system, which has also been developed by VIDI was replaced by the new and more universal VIDI NMS, which includes a significantly extended range of functions. At the same time, GigaBooking 2.0 from VIDI was implemented to replace the old customer booking portal. The measures, which had taken quite some time to plan, were completed right on time for the start of the Danish football super league.

GigaContent has been operating a Wide Area Broadcast IP Network on a fiber optic topology inside and outside of Denmark since 2008. Based on the positive experiences made with the previously used VIDI network monitoring and management software, GigaContent decided to migrate its systems to the new network management product VIDI NMS. The primary goal was to be able to use the extensive range of new functions provided by VIDI NMS.

VIDI is also providing an update for the web-based self-service booking tool with GigaBooking 2.0. This tool enables users to book and manage the services from the GigaContent portfolio themselves. The booking portal provides an easy-to-understand customer interface and a simplified view of the entire network, including a booking calendar and an overview of services that have already been booked.
