Advanced Imaging Society Award for Ncam technology

Ncam has been recognised by The Advanced Imaging Society with the prestigious New Product Award at a luncheon ceremony held at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood. The Society’s Lumiere statuettes were presented to companies and products for having achieved both “innovation and impact” in moving the entertainment industry forward.

“This year’s honorees reflected the changing nature of media and entertainment,” said Society Awards Chair Buzz Hays, Studio Chief, True Image Company. “Virtual Reality, light field image capture, faster software and game platform advancements are taking VR into the market quickly,” he stated. “Theatrically, new cinema and High Dynamic Range systems are going to increase the impact and excitement of going to the movies,” he added.

Ncam is a UK-based company with a global capability. It develops innovative augmented reality technology and products for the film, television and broadcast industries. By using a lightweight sensor bar that attaches to the camera, the solution tracks natural markers in the environment, allowing the camera to move freely at all times in any location. The multi-sensor device generates a continuous stream of extremely precise positional and rotational information that can feed all industry-standard graphics engines. The solution is also incredibly flexible, permitting any camera rig to be outfitted with its sensor bar.

“We’re delighted to be recognised by The Advanced Imaging Society for technical achievement. My thanks go out to all our customers who have believed in us and embraced our technology and the incredibly talented team which makes Ncam such an amazing company,” said Nic Hatch, CEO of Ncam. “When we set out to develop Ncam, we knew there was a market for an affordable, effective and flexible augmented reality system, and that is what we developed. We have worked with leading names in television and in Hollywood and continue to develop the product range, to make it even more attractive.”

Unique to the industry, Ncam’s camera tracking technology has been proven and recently implemented by major broadcasters and films around the world, such as BT Sport, ESPN, FOX, Edge of Tomorrow, Jupiter Ascending, NFL, TV Globo, White House Down and The Weather Channel.
