AIMS reveals speaker line-up for IP Oktoberfest 2021

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), in partnership with the Video Services Forum (VSF) and the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), has announced the speaker line-up and presentation schedule for IP Oktoberfest 2021, a live, interactive virtual event for broadcast and pro-AV professionals. To be held on 28-30 September, the free event will highlight the industry’s significant progress towards an all-IP ecosystem supporting today’s real-world media productions.

The first day of the event will focus primarily on the IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience) proposed set of open standards and specifications to enable the carriage of compressed and uncompressed video, audio and data over IP networks for the pro-AV market. Day Two will focus on audio and the role of NMOS in supporting IP-based workflows. The third and final day will focus on Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and media networking.

Speakers include Andrew Starks, AIMS board member and director of product management at Macnica, discussing Unleashing Growth Through AV over IP Open Standards, and Andre Testa, ASIC/FPGA manager at Matrox, who will present on Protecting IPMX Content. Day two will see Sassan Pejhan, VP, emerging technology, Ateme, share his experience of NextGen Audio Deployment in SMPTE 2110-Based Live Workflows and Gerard Phillips, systems engineer, Arista Networks, give A Rough Guide to Implementing DNS-SD in NMOS Environments. On the final day, Gordon Castle, SVP technology and operations at Discovery, will discuss the Real World Challenges in a Fully IP Production Environment and Andy Rayner, chief technologist, at Nevion, will present on Timing Planes in Ground and Cloud Production.

“IP Oktoberfest 2021 will build on the success of last year’s inaugural event, bringing vital perspectives and information to broadcast and pro-AV professionals in a dynamic, real-time environment,” said AIMS chairman of the board Michael Cronk (pictured). “Working with our partners, we’ve developed a strong line-up of experts from leading technology suppliers and forward-looking media organisations. Through presentations and interactive discussions, these experts will share their insights and experiences — all with the goal of supporting the broader industry in moving towards IP.”

Running daily from 10:00-14:00 ET, IP Oktoberfest 2021 goes beyond the webinar format to provide numerous opportunities for education, interaction and networking in an online environment that makes it easy to move freely between meeting areas — including a live presentation stage, virtual pub, and meeting and networking areas.
