Albis Technologies’ exec speaks about hybrid services evolution

Samina Husain, Albis Technologies’ senior business development manager, this week addressed the challenges today’s cable operators face in delivering cutting-edge new television services during a presentation at CSTB 2013 in Moscow. Husain explained how cable operators can address market challenges, user demands and new services, as well as earn additional revenue, by implementing a hybrid IP platform.

Albis Technologies has also been exhibiting at CSTB on booth 525, where attendees were able to view demonstrations of the company’s comprehensive range of HD IPTV set-top boxes (STBs) designed to optimise the end-user experience and enable service differentiations for service providers.

The company also showcased its new SceneGate Micro II, an innovative HD IPTV STB capable of delivering linear TV, VoD, OTT and PVR services from a compact design that effectively ensures low standby power consumption. Capable of supporting HD resolution up to 1080p via an HDMI 1.4a interface, the 3D TV ready device is designed to help service providers deploy a more competitive and exclusive service offering, ensuring a higher quality of service for subscribers.

“Today’s cable operators are challenged to offer traditional broadcast programming as well as innovative new services like VoD and PVR services,” says Husain. “My CSTB presentation, along with our exhibitor booth demonstrations, [explore] how operators can leverage existing broadcast delivery systems with next-generation, IP-based technology to deliver a superior quality of service to end-users.”
