Andy Anson joins Racecourse Media Group Board

Andy Anson has been appointed an Independent Non-executive Director of Racecourse Media Group (RMG), which represents the media and data rights of 34 (soon to be 37) racecourses in the UK. Anson brings to the role a wealth of expertise and experience in the media and sports industries, having held senior roles at Manchester United, ATP World Tour and the England 2018 FIFA World Cup Bid.

Anson said: “RMG’s track record in commercialising horseracing’s media and data rights has been most impressive. I look forward to working with the Chairman Simon Ellen and the rest of the team in contributing to its future success.”

RMG Chairman Simon Ellen said: “I am delighted that Andy Anson has agreed to join the RMG Board as the third Independent Non-executive Director, an appointment which allows us to further improve the governance of RMG.

“Andy has enjoyed a distinguished executive career as well as being an experienced NED on the Boards of PLCs and sporting bodies. He brings a deep knowledge of the management of media and data rights to the RMG Board and I am delighted that we have been able to make this important appointment.”

Anson was recently appointed Global President for Teneo Sports, the global CEO advisory business based out of New York, where he is leading the development of an international sports advisory and marketing business.

For the past five and a half years he has been President of Fanatics International (formerly Kitbag), a leading sports e-commerce and retail business and is also a Non-executive Director of the British Olympic Association

He has previously held the roles of Commercial Director for Manchester United, where he was on the main board, Chief Executive of the ATP World Tour in Europe, and Chairman of the ATP World Tour Finals.

He led the England 2018 FIFA World Cup Bid as Chief Executive and was previously a Non-executive Director of UTV Media Plc.

Anson joins fellow Non-executive Directors Simon Ellen (Independent Chairman), Roger Lewis (Independent) Simon Bazalgette (Jockey Club Racecourses), Jonathan Garrett and John Sanderson (representing smaller independent courses), William Derby (representing larger independent courses) and Charles Barnett (representing Ascot) on the RMG Board.

RMG CEO Richard FitzGerald and RMG Finance Director Martin Stevenson complete the Board as Executive Directors.
