Aperi and LeaseWeb partner on new media cloud services

In an announcement to further enable the broadcast industry to benefit from native-IP live production infrastructures, Aperi revealed that it will partner with LeaseWeb, a leading cloud hosting provider, which offers global Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) including dedicated servers, cloud-based servers, CDN services, cybersecurity solutions, colocation and hybrid cloud offerings.

The partnership will enable LeaseWeb to offer new media services within its IaaS offering based on Aperi’s Live Media Processing Virtualisation platform, which includes FPGA acceleration.

At the same time, LeaseWeb’s parent company Ocom BV, has confirmed it will join Aperi as an investor. This announcement comes as Aperi and its industry-first native IP platform are gaining significant recognition by content producers, facilities providers and infrastructure operators worldwide. The company has garnered multiple customer deployments since its official launch twelve months ago at the 2016 NAB Show.

“LeaseWeb coming on board at Aperi comes at a great time, not only for us but for the industry,” said Aperi’s CEO Joop Janssen. “They have an excellent name in the cloud hosting sector so the investment and the services enabled by the partnership will contribute to Aperi’s ongoing development and help to take us to the next level.”

LeaseWeb is headquartered in Amsterdam and has over 40 PoPs around the world, including multiple sites in the United States. The joint Aperi-LeaseWeb service will benefit from easy deployment using dedicated and cloud hosting services and means that any global content producer or service operator can immediately experience the advantages of Aperi’s live production platform.

“Aperi’s customer base and industry recognition are growing at an impressive rate because the platform is the clearest example of the direction the live production industry is moving in,” said Con Zwinkels, CEO of LeaseWeb Global BV. “We’ve always worked in the most innovative ways we can and this is just another example of that.”
