Avid at heart of Sochi host broadcaster’s production workflow
Avid’s broadcast solutions have been selected by the host broadcaster to power the production workflow in Sochi. Avid technology will be utilized to manage the thousands of hours of sports content being captured at multiple sites during the event, and instantly make that content available to Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHBs) in Russia for multi-device delivery to viewers around the world. The workflow comprises the Avid Interplay product asset manager system, Avid Interplay Central remote working licenses, an Avid iNEWS newsroom management system, 16 Avid ISIS7000 shared storage systems, and Avid NewsCutter editing software running on Avid Nitris DX hardware. Avid configured the workflow with specific private and public areas to ensure the protection of media assets and provide the right level of access for the RHBs.
“Each major sporting event brings the challenge of handling exponentially more media assets than ever before,” says Jeff Rosica, SVP of worldwide field operations at Avid. “With an Avid infrastructure in place, the host broadcaster will enable its rights holding broadcasters to quickly and efficiently access and distribute assets across multiple channels, for millions of viewers to enjoy,”
Avid technology be utilized to create a collaborative, reliable, and flexible workflow to connect journalists, editors and producers across many locations – and to enable the global broadcasters housed in the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) to work more efficiently.
