Broadcasting Center Europe (BCE) and Scaleway have agreed a strategic partnership aimed at developing and operating cloud-based media services designed to meet the performance, security, and sovereignty requirements of broadcasters and media organisations across Europe.
The partnership follows a technical evaluation phase during which BCE successfully validated selected media workloads on Scaleway’s European cloud infrastructure. The results confirmed the platform’s suitability for production-grade media environments, including performance, scalability, and operational stability.
Through this collaboration, BCE and Scaleway will jointly design and industrialise cloud-native media services addressing key media use cases such as content processing, distribution, and storage. The partnership combines BCE’s expertise in media workflows, systems integration, and managed services with Scaleway’s cloud infrastructure operated exclusively in Europe.
The resulting services will be designed to support business-critical media operations while ensuring compliance with European regulatory frameworks, data protection requirements, and sovereignty constraints.
BCE and Scaleway share a common objective to provide credible European cloud alternatives for media organisations seeking transparency, control, and long-term alignment with European data residency and governance principles.
Beyond infrastructure consumption, the partnership includes close collaboration on architecture definition, operational models, security frameworks, and service evolution, with a focus on real-world production constraints and long-term scalability.
“This partnership reflects our ambition to build cloud-based media services that are operationally robust and aligned with European sovereignty expectations. Scaleway’s cloud platform demonstrated strong technical maturity during the evaluation phase, enabling us to confidently progress towards production use cases,” said Sylvain Merle, chief technology officer, BCE.
“Media services place demanding requirements on cloud platforms in terms of performance, availability, and security. Working with BCE allows us to further engage our infrastructure with production-oriented media workloads and contribute to the development of sovereign cloud services for the media industry.” explained Alexia Boulot, VP of product, Scaleway.
Following the successful evaluation phase, BCE and Scaleway will progressively expand their collaboration to additional services and customer use cases.
The partnership is intended to evolve over time, supporting innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth within the European media ecosystem.
