BVE 2014: Signiant to showcase intelligent file movement software

Used by leading content creators and distributors, Signiant helps facilitate the movement of large media files between users, applications and systems with ease, control and security.

One of the key challenges faced by UK media organizations today relates to the Digital Production Partnership (DPP) delivery spcifications. All the leading broadcasters in the UK co-operate in the DPP and have announced that starting in October 2014 they will only accept file-based content in their specified format. With this deadline looming, the Signiant team will be on hand at BVE to discuss how to leverage their cloud solutions to address the new DPP standards.

For production companies and post houses, this means finding a solution that enables them to deliver their content on-time and within the correct specifications. With Signiant’s cloud solutions users can transfer content quickly and easily using Media Shuttle and validate media file delivery formats with the CloudSpex application. By matching file types and metadata against a cloud-based directory of published specifications, including DPP, CloudSpex helps ensure that the assets are fully valid and compliant prior to transfer.

“This is a hot issue here and now,” said Greg Hoskin, Signiant managing director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. “But what I am looking forward to discussing at BVE is not just DPP delivery but the whole subject of what the cloud can do for broadcasters, and how SaaS solutions have the power to transform the way they work – for the better.”

As well as demonstrating its solutions, Signiant is also sponsoring the BVE ‘Broadcast Meets IT’ theatre and its presentations. One of the presentations will be given by Greg Hoskin, who will be talking about key considerations for enabling efficient file sharing in media enterprise.
