CABSAT 2014: Net Insight to demontsrate MSR functionality
At CABSAT 2014, Net Insight will demonstrate the company’s media switch router (MSR) functionality, which provides service-centric network management, quality of service (QoS) enhanced links and lossless routing. Net Insight’s functionality enables the company to improve QoS, service integrity and performance of dedicated, managed and unmanaged IP networks.
Net Insight’s Nimbra VA 210 expands network footprints and offers media service providers the opportunity to address markets currently out of their reach, due to the high costs associated with first-mile connectivity. It enables new channels for specialised content to be transported in a profitable way, over unmanaged IP networks, to be handed off for further transport and distribution to users and subscribers, over a more dedicated infrastructure. By leveraging unmanaged IP networks to transport content with a good level of quality for video contribution, the Nimbra VA 210 extends network footprints in an efficient way, enabling media operators and broadcasters to significantly reduce costs related to content creation and production. One significant application for the Nimbra VA 210 and a growing trend, among media operators, which Net Insight will discuss at CABSAT, is satellite replacement for head-end contribution of niche live content.
At CABSAT, Net Insight will share the success of the Nimbra VA 210 using examples from implementations with global telecom provider TATA Communications and Satcab, a leading systems operator and distributor of professional broadband and broadcast equipment in Portugal. Specifically, Net Insight will detail how TATA Communications deployed the Nimbra VA 210 to offer new services through Internet connectivity to its global Nimbra media backbone network, and how Satcab effectively uses the Nimbra VA 210 as a disaster recovery service for cable-TV customers.
Among other developments, Net Insight will also discuss the digital terrestrial TV (DTT) market and how it has successfully forged an industry trust for delivering DTT networks.
