CABSAT 2015: Grass Valley outlines IP, 4K strategies

Technical advances in video production and broadcast are changing the way content is captured and delivered, creating new areas of opportunity for automation, improved efficiency and versatility. Broadcast professionals will gather March 10–12 at CABSAT at the Dubai World Trade Center, to learn more about the latest technologies. To help broadcasters capitalise on the latest opportunities, innovations in the area of live production and news production, playout, 4K and IP will be showcased at the Grass Valley booth.

“This show marks the first time that the new Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, will be showing its entire portfolio in the Middle East,” noted Said Bacho, vice president, EMEA, Grass Valley. “Our focus will be in the area of the IP transition and 4K live production. We have a number of new products and a rich heritage of helping customers stay on the leading edge of technology with Future-Ready solutions. At CABSAT, visitors will see real end-to-end solutions that help them tell better stories while improving production efficiency.”

Some of the solutions on display will include GV STRATUS for news and live production, along with the K2 Dyno replay system, LDX XtremeSpeed 6X ultra-slow-motion camera, Karrera K-Frame S-series production switcher and Grass Valley’s best-of-breed infrastructure solutions with NVISION routers, Densité signal processing and Kaleido multiviewers. Visitors will also see and experience the iTX integrated playout platform, which is designed with advanced flexibility to adapt to how channels are aired and distributed; and the K2 Summit 3G transmission client.

In the area of baseband-to-IP migration, Grass Valley offers broadcasters a uniquely open IP migration path driven by SDN-enabled control that seamlessly supports hybrid SDI/IP signal environments. IP solutions on hand will include the Kaleido IP multiviewer and the NVISION 8144 with IP gateway. At the forefront of optimized technologies to support 4K production environments is the LDX 4K camera — claimed to be the first 4K/UHD camera developed specifically for live production.
