Cloudian to present media archive case study at Cisco Future of Media Summit

Cloudian has announced that it will present at the Cisco Future of Media Summit 2018, a conference for innovators in the media industry being held in London on 5 June.

Cloudian will present a case study highlighting the benefits its HyperStore object storage system has brought to a celebrated weekend comedy programme, which has consolidated over 40 years of video content into a single limitlessly scalable and quickly searchable data pool.

The Cisco Future of Media Summit is designed as a source of thought leadership and a possible glimpse of tomorrow, with content spanning proven technologies, cutting edge solutions and visionary approaches.

Cloudian HyperStore is a software-defined-storage solution designed the needs of capacity –intensive media formats with seamless scalability – from terabytes to petabytes. Users can start small and expand on demand to grow from a few nodes to a few hundred without disruption. Certified with Cisco USC S3260, S240 servers, and UCS Manager, Cloudian makes it easy for organisations to deploy fully S3-compatible storage on Cisco servers

“This Summit highlights today’s critical topics as media customers face the triple threat of growing media archives, compressed production workflows, and tight budgets,” said Jon Toor, CMO at Cloudian. “We are thrilled to present how Cloudian and Cisco have addressed these challenges for a major broadcaster, helping them to move away from tape to a disk-based solution where they can quickly and cost-effectively store, find, and protect media on a limitlessly scalable platform.”

A Cloudian poll conducted at the NAB Show in April 2018 found that more than 50 percent of tape media users surveyed intend to migrate to disk media in the next three years.

“Cisco-based solutions span the range of broadcast technologies, and media archives are no exception,” said Nicolas Korovesis, Cisco’s head of media UK and Middle East. “With Cloudian storage software and Cisco high-density servers, we offer a proven solution to revolutionise workflows by making archives more searchable and accessible, and therefore more valuable to producers and content owners.”

The Cisco Future of Media Summit will also feature speakers from companies including Lawo, Grass Valley, EVS, 2Immersse, NBCU & Canal+, and Cisco CTO Dave Ward.
