Cobalt Digital expands openGear portfolio

Cobalt Digital has acquired the IP and manufacturing rights to multiple Ward-Beck openGear cards, effective immediately.

The products being integrated into the Cobalt family include several analogue audio and video distribution amplifiers, audio analogue-to-digital/digital-to-analogue converters and single card rear modules in numerous 3-pin terminal block configurations.

“We’ve always held Ward-Beck in the highest esteem and have respected the integrity of the company and quality of its equipment,” said Chris Shaw, Cobalt’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “We are honoured that Kevin Lyver and his team have passed the mantle to Cobalt to keep these modules viable and available in the marketplace. We are delighted to add them to the Cobalt family of products and be able to serve an extended marketplace.”

Ward-Beck Systems had manufactured and supplied professional audio broadcast equipment for more than half a century from headquarters in Toronto, Canada. The company ceased operations on 31 January 2021 but has pledged continued support and assistance during the transition period to ensure minimal disruption to customers.
