Cooke Optics invests in equipment and staff

Cooke Optics, a manufacturer of precision lenses for film and television, is making significant investments in equipment for its newly-extended Leicester factory, as well as in staff and training, as demand for its front anamorphic and prime lenses continues to increase.

All Cooke lenses are individually hand-crafted at the Leicester factory, which was expanded in 2014. A newly-installed edging machine and the planned purchase of an additional coating plant will work alongside existing machinery to increase capacity and further improve quality. Four more factory staff will be in place by July, and ongoing training will ensure the precision skills required for each step of the lens making process.

Les Zellan, chairman and owner, Cooke Optics, said: “As we continue to grow our product line, with our recent announcement of a front anamorphic zoom lens and another exciting development coming very soon, the investment in new equipment and staff will help us to increase production while maintaining our high standards.”

Visitors can hear more about the new Anamorphic/i Zoom lens, and see Cooke’s Anamorphic/i, 5/i, S4/i, miniS4/i prime lens sets, on Booth 67 at CINEGEAR EXPO 2015, which takes place from 4-7 June at Paramount Studios, Los Angeles.
