CTV follows Leader for its outside broadcast production

CTV Outside Broadcast, a Euro Media Group company with OB partners in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands, has invested in Leader LV 5770A 3G/HD/SD-SDI multi-monitor signal analysers. The LV 5770A was supplied by Leader’s UK reseller, Thameside TV, which is based in Shepperton.

“We now have three LV 5770A instruments,” said Paul Francis, CTV’s Head of VTR. “They are used in a range of test and measurement roles during major outside broadcast productions, monitoring video signal quality. Each unit also incorporates Leader’s OP43 audio card which enables loudness measurement, lip-sync timing analysis and surround-sound monitoring.

“The LV 5770A is sturdily built and has an intuitive control menu that allows very fast operation during live production. A similar control routine is used in the eight Leader LV 7700 rasterizers which we installed during 2014 in our OB 11 mobile production truck. Operators moving from one instrument to another appreciate the ergonomic similarity.”

Leader’s LV 5770A is a compact broadcast signal analyser supporting 3G, HD dual link, HD-SDI and SD-SDI signal formats. Its modular design allows easy customisation to meet a user’s specific needs. Signal amplitudes, vector, data, colour bars and programme picture can be viewed individually or in quad-split mode on the instrument’s integral 6.3 inch XGA LCD screen.

Video frames can be captured manually or on an automated error-detection basis. Video display options include eye-pattern and jitter waveform. Eye-pattern rise time, amplitude, fall time, timing jitter, current jitter, rising-edge overshoot and falling-edge overshoot can be measured automatically.
