DSMB Technologies introduces Lepton video processing, format covnersion range
Launched at IBC, the ultra-compact modular Lepton series uses SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) units to deliver a high quality choice of conversion of multiple formats, distribution amps, routers and switchers from SFP modules no bigger than a typical memory stick.
The Lepton microCONVERTER is an ultra-compact unit providing versatile format conversion and signal processing capabilities between interfaces. Up to four SFP modules are accepted by the microCONVERTER unit, which is a small standalone device of about the same dimensions as a pack of cards.
There is a wide choice of modules each providing a different function including dual channel 3G/HD/SD-SDI transmitters and receivers for 3GHD-mini BNC, DIN, LC fibre, ASI over IP, coax or fibre, DVI to HDMI and composite video also a micro BNC LC Fibre hybrid. The interface formats can be mixed in any combination using the SFP modules which eliminates the need for separate format conversion. When plugged in the interface device auto-detects the module type and reconfigures itself automatically making changes both rapid and simple.
Other functions available in the SFP modules include fibre optic conversion, optical wavelength conversion, signal format conversion, 1×2 or 1×3 distribution amplifiers, 2×1, 2×2 and 3×1 routing, 1 to 3 switch, or combinations of these.
As standard the Lepton provides an in-built web interface. This permits the system to be remotely controlled, monitored and provides diagnostics via a standard web browser over Ethernet or by third party (router control) software using a PC, Mac or mobile device.
