DTS, VisualOn showcase immersive surround sound for streaming media devices
DTS announced the integration of the DTS-HD decoder in the OnStream MediaPlayer+ from VisualOn, a leader in multimedia technologies. The technology will be demonstrated in the DTS booth at IBC.
DTS-HD technology is an advanced multi-channel audio codec that enables streaming services to deliver content to connected devices in immersive surround sound, providing consumers a premium audio experience anywhere, anytime.
OnStream MediaPlayer+ is a multimedia player development kit that includes a set of highly optimized multimedia codecs for the most popular device formats as well as a set of streaming protocols supporting a range of media servers. OnStream MediaPlayer+ builds upon market-proven technology that currently powers over 200 million mobile devices on the market, including mobile handsets, tablets, desktops, connected set-top boxes, and smart TVs.
“High-quality audio is an integral part of today’s digital entertainment experience,” said Andy Lin, CEO of VisualOn, Inc. “The OnStream MediaPlayer+ and DTS integration reinforces VisualOn’s commitment to bringing superior experiences to the connected device ecosystem in a manner that’s easily scalable across multiple platforms.”
“Consumers are increasingly viewing and listening to more content on their mobile devices, and expect to have a premium audio and visual experience,” said Mark R. Johnson, Vice President Streaming & Media Solutions for DTS. “Our integration with the OnStream MediaPlayer+ development kit creates a common platform for content services and application developers to create new, exciting consumer audio experiences across a wide range of devices.”
