EBS brings EPG data to Arirang TV’s new UK HD Sky channel

EBS is supplying EPG data via its Pawa scheduling application directly to Sky on behalf of Arirang TV’s new HD channel, which has recently launched on Sky 690. The UK launch of Arirang TV marks a milestone as it’s the first Korean channel available to Sky viewers.

A Seoul-based public service broadcaster, Arirang TV provides a mix of English language news, cultural programmes, educational shows and documentaries. Using its unique multi-platform, multi-territory, scalable software solution Pawa, EBS is able to take all the scheduling information for Arirang TV and ensure that it meets the requirements of the Sky platform.

“We are very happy with the successful launch of ArirangTV on Sky UK and Freesat,” explained Leo Park, Senior Manager, Arirang TV. “A lot of processes are involved in launching a channel, one of them being the accurate delivery of a channel’s EPG to the audience. We are glad to have worked with EBS, and will continue to rely on their efficiency and expertise for the broadcast of our channel.”

Keith Bedford, Managing Director, EBS says, “It’s our job to simplify the EPG process so the platform receives the correct data in the correct format, on time. Each platform has preferred formats, methods of delivery and other idiosyncrasies that can prove difficult for channels to accommodate, Pawa’s unique capability allows channels and platforms to do all this and much more.”

Pawa allows content owners to easily adapt their EPG data requirements to meet the data workflow needs of any content distribution platform, in any country. It ensures that media companies can control brand consistency across all channels, regardless of where content is accessed. This means that viewers can rely on the channel to deliver the quality of programmes that they expect.
