Eleven Sports deal brings Serie A and La Liga to STV

STV viewers in Scotland will get the chance to watch live football matches from La Liga and Serie A for free this weekend following a tie-up with Eleven Sports.

A total of 14 matches will be made available online via the STV Player, taking in matches played between Friday 23 November and Sunday 25 November.

The agreement between the two media firms will continue beyond this weekend with two matches from the two leagues shown each week.

Richard Young, commercial director for Eleven Sports said: “Our free-to-air partnership with STV fits perfectly into Eleven’s ‘For the Fans’ strategy which aims to make leading football action more accessible for fans at an affordable price. STV has fantastic reach across Scotland and this collaboration is another way to drive awareness of our premium football offer to new and diverse audiences.

“Following our free-to-air partnership with Facebook, our inventive methods of distribution ensure we continue to reach fans everywhere while strengthening Eleven Sports’ position as a pioneer in the contemporary sports media landscape.”

The deal follows the recent announcement that STV will act as exclusive digital sales agent for Eleven Sports across all digital platforms and sponsorship as it looks to grow its business in the UK and Ireland.

STV managing director for digital Richard Williams added that he feels the partnership “reinforces our commitment to be Scotland’s number one entertainment destination by offering a wider range of premium content to new audiences on the STV Player.”

Eleven Sports is an online pay-TV service owned by the Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzan and The Channel Company.
