EUROVISION to deliver NBA basketball around the world

EUROVISION and the National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced that they have teamed up to transmit live NBA games, NBA TV, and other NBA programming to the league’s international television and digital media partners around the world.

The wide-ranging NBA content will be transmitted and available for fans to view throughout the year in HD, and further enhances the league’s international distribution. Along with live games throughout the season, fans will have access to NBA TV (the league’s 24-hour network), highlight shows such as NBA Action and NBA Daily, and additional NBA programming. NBA live games and programming reached fans in 215 countries and territories in 47 languages last season.

EUROVISION and the NBA will work together to create a full-time operational fiber link that will connect NBA Entertainment in Secaucus, New Jersey, to the EUROVISION New York City bureau and its Technical Operations Center (TOC) in Washington, D.C. EUROVISION will transmit NBA content globally to basketball fans in Europe, the Middle East, Central America, South America, Asia and Africa from its TOC.

As part of the relationship, EUROVISION will be able to utilize NBA marks, further enhancing their connection with the league throughout the international broadcast and digital community.

“This agreement with the NBA further strengthens EUROVISION’s position as the key partner in transmission services for the world’s biggest, most prestigious sports federations,” said Stefan Kuerten, EUROVISION Director of Sports & Business. “Live sports transmissions are a keystone of our business, and we are honored that the NBA wants EUROVISION to transmit their coverage around the world.”

The first NBA programming that EUROVISION will transmit will be the Oct. 5 preseason game in Istanbul between the Boston Celtics and Turkish basketball power Fenerbahce Ulker. Additional preseason games from the U.S. and overseas, will be featured through Oct. 26. The first NBA regular-season game will be on opening night of the 2012-13 NBA season on Oct. 30 when the Celtics visit the defending NBA Champion Miami Heat.

“Working together with EUROVISION and their vast experience and state-of-the-art technology in transmitting live content will enhance the viewing experience for NBA fans around the world,” said Matt Brabants, Senior Vice President of International Media Distribution and Business Operations, NBA. “Throughout the year, our fans will have access to a full schedule of live games, and other NBA programming distributed by EUROVISION in high-quality HD.”
