EVS launches XStore for shared storage
At IBC EVS will introduce the XStore range of shared storage products, designed to intelligently address the challenges that come with managing video content and related data storage in sports, news, entertainment and media production workflows. Three XStore platforms – XStore Production, XStore Archive and XStore HE – will provide broadcasters and production companies with fast and secure access to content.
Each system delivers guaranteed optimal level of speed and capacity at lower cost, working with EVS production and content management tools. The new shared storage platform supports all file system protocols offering ultimate level of content access for third-party systems. Its advanced fault tolerant system with high availability and data reliability makes it suitable for demanding broadcast workflows.
“EVS has long been at the forefront of the latest developments in live production, including remote production for sport and high-intensity news and entertainment workflows,” said Sebastien Maindiaux, product manager at EVS. “The broadcasters and production companies we work with were clear in their demands: they needed integration with very high performance shared storage, so they can serve multiple outputs and multiple platforms quickly and cost-effectively. XStore is a direct result of those requirements.”
At IBC2014, the XStore platform will also be used as the central nearline storage for IBC TV News. EVS will be providing an end-to-end news workflow — including multiple live feed ingest, ENG file import, content management and news editing — for the on-site broadcaster. This year IBC TV News will be online streaming and managing more content than in previous years. XStore shared storage will be commercially available immediately after IBC.
