Front Porch Digital, Telefónica agree cloud services deal
Front Porch Digital and Telefónica have announced a cooperation agreement under which Telefónica will offer cloud services to its customers powered by Front Porch Digital’s LYNXSM cloud-based content storage management (CSM) service.
Telefónica will install LYNX in its data centre in Spain, from which it will resell LYNX services. Telefónica’s new offering, media management in the cloud, will target customers in Spain, Portugal and South America, focusing on broadcasters with the need to manage large media archives.
“With DIVArchive, Front Porch Digital has been the global leader in the content storage management marketplace for more than 10 years, and they are by far the provider of choice for media companies throughout the Spanish-speaking world,” says Martín Parrilla Sánchez, head of digital product marketing at Telefónica Spain. “They are trusted for their excellent products and quality service, but because they are always innovating, they ensure their solutions are futureproof, too. LYNX is a perfect example of these key advantages we hope to leverage in our new partnership.”
“The broadcast industry is facing a paradigm shift and moving from broadcast distribution to broadband distribution,” adds Rino Petricola, senior vice president and general manager at Front Porch Digital. “This partnership with one of the world’s largest telecom operators clearly positions Front Porch Digital at the convergence point between broadcast and broadband, and opens up new opportunities for deploying our LYNX services.”
The cooperation agreement between the two companies went into effect on July 29 and the service is now available to Telefónica customers.
