GV AMPP integrates broadcast graphics from RT Software

RT Software’s Swift graphics system has been integrated with Grass Valley’s GV AMPP agile media processing platform.

The integration will enable GV AMPP customers to take advantage of the comprehensive set of graphics tools available from RT Software. Integration will be demonstrated at NAB 2023 in Las Vegas, where Swift’s reconfigurable web user interface, Swift Live, will be shown running within the GV AMPP user interface. This merging of operational interfaces removes barriers between products and reduces the amount of desk space required for different control interfaces.

The rendering of graphics over AMPP’s live video feeds is managed by Swift Engine, a scalable render engine supporting all broadcast formats (SDI, ST2110, NDI) and resolutions (HD, UHD, HDR). Capable of being deployed on-prem or in the cloud (AWS or virtualised in a private data centre), Swift Engine adds complex 2D or 3D graphics over live video for on-air branding, newsroom tickers, augmented reality scoreboards and more.

Mike Fredriksen, RT Software commercial director, said: “We have worked with GV for many years, so being able to formalise our relationship with GV’s next-generation AMPP platform is a significant step for all our existing joint customers. They can now consider migrating to AMPP, safe in the knowledge that their existing investment in the Swift environment has not been wasted. The Swift CG editing tool for example is 100% identical whether used to produce projects for legacy systems or now on GV AMPP.”

Trevor Francis, GV’s director of indirect product strategy, said: “On-screen graphics are as important to the quality of content as the pictures and sound. They add enormously to the consumer’s experience and reinforce the brand identity. We have enjoyed a long association with RT Software and I’m thrilled to have them as an AMPP Partner. Having them on the Grass Valley booth at NAB is a perfect opportunity for us to show great workflows creating stunning content.”
